BMP Foundation Reaches Beyond Hospital Walls
The BMP Foundation continues to reach beyond the walls of the BMP Hospital to help
the Hospital's sister facilities within the CSSS La Pommeraie to meet specific equipment needs.
In the coming months the Foundation will provide $75,600 in new equipment within
the public long-term care facilities across the territory [Bedford, Sutton, Farnham and
Cowansville].With patients transferring frequently between the BMP and these long-term care
centres, the issue of infection control is a key challenge which affects the users of all centres.
The new investments include the replacement of two therapeutic baths [which no
longer conform to standards] at Foyer Sutton and the CHSLD Bedford. Each bath costs $10,500.
Additional new equipment will also be provided to help therapists and care givers with ongoing
initiatives to help elderly patients remain active longer and to prevent falls. This preventive
equipment will be used both within the BMP long-term care unit as well as at various CHSLD centres
across the territory.
The Foundation will also provide each of the four centres with one new Clinitron
therapeutic mattress. These specialized mattresses, at a cost of $4,500 apiece, help reduce sores
and pressure points and considerably improve user comfort for patients in particular distress.
Seventy new conventional mattresses will also be provided throughout the territory.
